Why the Foo Fighters Weren’t on the Emmys: ‘They Kicked Us Off’
The Foo Fighters were scheduled to perform for the first time ever at this year’s Emmy Awards, but apparently pulled out when they were not allowed to play an entire song.
“We were supposed to play on the Emmys,” Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl tells TMZ, “and we were gonna play on the Emmys, and then they kicked us off.”
The band, in a subsequent statement to Rolling Stone, confirmed that they were were approached by the Television Academy about appearing on the Sunday (Sept. 20) broadcast. Things reportedly broke down when Fox told them they’d have to edit their performance. Neither Fox nor the Television Academy has yet commented.
