When "Wet Hot American Summer" was released in theaters in July of 2001, the oddball comedy brought in just $295,000 at the box office — barely enough to buy a house in the suburbs, much less recoup its meager $1.8-million budget.
Not that anyone expected the oddball indie, set on a single day at a Jewish summer camp in 1981 and featuring a talking can of vegetables, to be a blockbuster. Written by David Wain and Michael Showalter, veterans of the NYU sketch-comedy troupe turned short-lived MTV show, "The State," it was always going to have a niche appeal.
More surprising, though, was the scathing response from the critics, who were baffled by the movie's intentional absurdity, willfully bad dialogue and skewed parody of raunchy '80s comedies like "Meatballs." Roger Ebert hated it so much he wrote his review in the form of alternate lyrics to the novelty hit "Hello Muddah, Hello Faddah": "Life's too short for cinematic torture," he declared.

Ryan Kavanaugh's beleaguered entertainment company, Relativity Media, is cutting roughly 50 workers as the 11-year-old studio nears a possible bankruptcy filing, according to people with knowledge of the matter.
The Beverly Hills studio, which owes at least $320 million, has been trying to come up with the money to pay lenders but is expected to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy as soon as Wednesday, according to a person familiar with the matter who was unauthorized to speak publicly.
A spokesman for Relativity, which has about 350 employees, declined to comment.

A gunman opened fire in a movie theater in Lafayette, La., on Thursday night, killing two people and injuring seven, officials said.
The shooter, a 58-year-old "lone white male," is also dead, Louisiana State Police Sgt. Brooks David told CNN. No motive has been established, David said.

Give yourself a day or two off for the photo shoot is of course obvious, but still trying to work out the pictures and the birth within 2 weeks!
Sufficient light
Sufficient light is necessary for a beautiful photo. Shadows provide a stark contrast to what often is not pretty. So make pictures in a well-lit room and make sure that you shoot with the light and not against the light. Take several shots with and without flash, and check what gives the best results.
Tip: If you can not choose between several nice pictures, is a collage of pictures a nice solution.
Black and white or sepia effect
Black and white or sepia effects give the baby pictures a more aesthetic appearance. Avoid bright colors when taking the photo you want to print in black and white. Also provide a white body and a light blanket and make sure the background is light in color. That makes for a better effect on your photo.
Total shot or close-up?
How do you take the picture, let's entirely up to you. You obviously have several options. So you can take a close-up of the face or of those cute fingers and toes, but you can also quite your baby from head to toe (little) shooting.
The position from which you take the picture, can vary widely. So you can put the baby on a raised surface and take the picture from eye level. But you can also apply a 'bird's eye' and take a picture from above when the baby is in his crib.
Even before the birth to take pictures?
In addition to the pictures of the baby itself, we also regularly see birth announcements with photos of the pregnant mom or pictures of the older brother or sister.
