Vegas residences increasingly popular for musicians and more

Palace in 2003, no one could have imagined the number of big-name stars who would follow in the singer's footsteps and launch Las Vegas residencies of their own. Today, the world's top artists -- everyone from Elton John to Britney Spears -- set up shop on the S trip. Mariah Carey joins other superstars with Vegas residences. In May, the best-selling female artist of all time, Mariah Carey, will join Vegas' starstudded list of resident performers with her highly anticipated residency, "Mariah Carey No. 1's." The show marks the first time all 18 of Carey's chart-toppers, including "Vision of Love" and "Fantasy," will be performed together in one concert. Can't get enough of '90s superstardom? R&B group Boyz II Men performs their hit residency at the Mirage. Featuring the trio's biggest hits, including "Motownphilly" and "End of the Road," as well as new numbers and Motown classics, the entertaining production has been extended through December.

Sharing the Stage

Two of music's most beloved acts, Donny & Marie and Olivia Newton-John, also recently extended their residencies at Flamingo Las Vegas. Donny & Marie, the charismatic brother-sister duo, will perform through the end of 2015, while Newton-John's "Summer Nights" will also run inside the Donny & Marie Showroom on select dates. Extended to September, her elegant production takes audiences on a musical journey.

Funny Business

Not all Las Vegas residencies are music-related. Ventriloquist Jeff Dunham settled in with his famed troupe of puppet sidekicks, including Walter and Achmed the Dead Terrorist, when he kicked off his Las Vegas residency, "Jeff Dunham: Not Playing with a Full Deck," at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in November.
